I decided to start this review with a spoiler - Today's post is going to be yet another rave train about yet another Clarins product. This time it is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. It is dubbed as a product that delivers radiance to the skin in a flash. You take a pea sized amount and spread it across the face so it forms a thin veil rather than rubbing it into the skin like you do a moisturiser. The packaging is very clarins-esque, not indulgent yet very chic. The cream feels like a standard moisturiser, no shimmer or sheen to be seen and smells very similar to the Clarins extra-comfort cleansing cream. Enough with the boring details and on to the ever alluring question - Does it work?
It certainly does. I use the balm after toners, skipping serums and moisturisers. Makeup goes on immediately after, none of that waiting for it to sink in etc. One, my skin does not miss a moisturiser, it feels very comfortable and plump. Two, makeup looks so beautiful applied over this. It looks completely melted into the skin. You know how at times, after an hour or so of wearing makeup the natural oils set in and everything just looks creamy without being oily and greasy? That is exactly the effect this balm mimics (I hope I am not losing you guys here, let me know if this made no sense at all! Kudos to those who have read this far!).
The balm says it can also be used as a face mask, it says apply all over face, neck and decollete and leave for 10-15 minutes. Personally I haven't tried that for fear of wasting too much product.
In conclusion, this is one of those products that does exactly what it says on the tube. I reach for it when I am attending a function and want to look young and radiant. Or in situations when you are meeting friends from college after a few years and want to put your best foot forward ;) (Can you tell I recently met with friends and wanted to put an extra effort to look "radiant"?! I totally went for the beauty flash balm).
