Photos Around London - Weekend stroll

Winter is attacking us poor souls in the UK in full force. But there is Christmas decor everywhere which brings a sense of festivity in me and lifts my spirits like nothing else can in this cold weather. And the christmas gift sets in beauty shops here are just so darn tempting. I have been trying to look straight ahead while walking back home after work!

I thought I'll share a few of the 100s of photos I took over the past week. One of the main reasons I started blogging was the opportunity to take pictures, I get really snap happy when I have my camera in hand, to the point where we have invested in a 1TB hard disk just to back up pictures! I even have a travel blog here, which has not been updated in a while(Check it out if you are interested)! Moving on to the pictures:

The Body Shop Foundation Brush - Review & Photos

My friend lent me her TBS flat foundation brush when I was looking for a traditional foundation brush to apply my benefit liquid foundation with. She does not like the chunky handle and thought I might get some use out of it. I did not know what to expect of The Body Shop brushes as I have none in my collection. On first use I was so utterly disappointed. This brush is just so scantily stacked with the stiffest paint brush like bristles. It is so thin, I  have to work atleast 10 minutes to get my whole face done. And it makes foundation go so streaky. To fix all the mess I then have to go over my entire face with the Sigma angled kabuki to blend out any streak marks, which totally defeats the purpose of a foundation brush.

Cashkaro + Nykaa haul - Get rewarded for shopping online!

Don’t we all love ourselves a bit of online shopping? For a mum like me, going to the shops has become an almost distant dream. Just yesterday I placed an order for my winter sweaters online and let out a small tear for having to pay a £4 shipping charge! I buy everything from toilet cleaning liquid to expensive perfumes on Amazon, my mum even calls Amazon my closest relative! For all that money spent online it is always fun to get a percentage of the money back in our accounts, however small that might be. Quidco in the UK is my cashback site of preference and to find an Indian equivalent of it was awesome. Cashkaro takes nothing more than creating an account on their website and thereafter whenever you shop online through one of their partner sites you get a small portion of the money you spent back in your account. I am cynical about everything in life, but this really is as good as it sounds. Since the retail websites get traffic via cashkaro, they pay cashkaro a commission and they give a portion of it back to us as cashback. Best part if imagine there is a discount on something, you get the discount + cashback which is pretty cool! And you can refer friends, when they signup and shop via cashkaro you get a small percentage of their cashback in your account, so rewards for my shopping and my friends' shopping as well!

Benefit They're Real Vs Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara - Review & EOTD

Today’s review is on the iconic UK’s best-selling mascara and one that is crazy priced compared to all the drug-store options out there. I am going to try and answer the “Is it worth it?” question that I find asking myself everytime I apply this.

First let me write a bit about how I ended up buying this £19.50 mascara! I was aimlessly wandering the aisles of Boots one day when a Benefit SA volunteered to give me a face makeover to which I obviously beamed at her with a YES! At the end of it, she had sold me on their foundation and this masacara. After she was done with the make-over I saw myself in the mirror and let out an audible “oh wow”! It really looked like I had lashes twice as long as my usual ones. Added to this, I could not resist the offer that was running that day, a baby version of the same free with the full-size.

What is so different about this?

MAC Gel Liner Blacktrack - Review & Photos

I have used a lot of eyeliners over the years, from various brands and various formulations, liquid, stick, gel, felt-tip. But I have reduced my stash and zeroed in on one that is an all-rounder for me, the MAC Gel liner in Blacktrack. It comes in a round glass pot, reminds me of the eyetex kajal’s that come in a pot too. Where the eyetex would smudge in a matter of hours giving me racoon eyes, MAC blacktrack sets after you apply and does not budge the entire day.

Application I am not so adept at drawing a line on my eye that has not gone all raggedy zig-zag! If it is that bad with a pencil liner, imagine how horrible it could get with a brush and gel!

New skincare finds/gems - Pai Organic Skincare

I am a self-proclaimed skincare junkie and offlate I have steered clear of the 99p items we find at drugstores and have started investing in high-quality skincare. Since most of the high-quality stuff is expensive, I cannot really buy and then make up my mind on whether I like it or not, that method might just result in several expensive mistakes which I cannot afford. So I try and do my research and buy only stuff that I know to an extent will help my skin. Pai is a brand that has been in my radar for a while now, they are a fully organic, no nasty chemicals, pure skincare brand who specialise in products for sensitive skin. They have also been called the mecca for sensitive skin in several places. I was itching to try their products and when I came to know they offered a trial pack of their best-sellers for £5 with free delivery I was literally all over it.

Isn’t that the best packaging ever! It contained 5ml samples of

4 Work Outfits - OOTDs

Another work outfit post! These posts will not have many new pieces (I cannot go shopping for clothes every week can I?!) but will have clothing items from past outfit posts styled slight differently.

I am currently working on downsizing my wardrobe and stripping it down to only those items that I like and wear all the time. In the process I have created a pile of clothes that fall under “Never worn in a year, but still wanna keep”. All outfits below will have been styled with such a clothing piece! Lets jump right into the first one.

Outfit 1
I have been looking for the perfect pair of affordable leather boots ever since the weather turned a little chilly. I have a few pairs of ankle boots  but no calf boots. I am still not comfortable wearing knee-high boots without feeling like bandit queen! I bought these from Dune, Dune does the best leather boots and most of them are MADE IN INDIA!

The blazer shown here is from the pile mentioned above. It is literally my first ever blazer and I have worn it to two interviews in the past and that’s about it. I did not put any thought into this outfit except for wanting to wear the blazer in some form! I am happy how it turned out.

If you have seen past OOTD posts here you will have no trouble recognising this dress!

Macadamia Flawless - Hero or Zero?!

I have always been into treatment hair oils, macadamia, morocco, argan – you name it I have tried it! Of them all plain and simple coconut oil(overnight conditioning) is my favourite followed by Macadamia oil(Leave-in treatment). So when I recently spotted this product from the Macadamia line called Flawless, I was a little curious to see what it does. I expected it to be a hair spray due to the tin+pump packaging but on the contrary it is a 6-in-1 product that claims to cleanse, condition, increase volume, reduce drying time, reduce frizz and detangle. The packaging is reminiscent of all macadamia oil products, with the swirly pattern on it. I normally research my products before buying but this one was reduced to £5 (Rs 500) from £21 (Rs 2100). So I thought why not?!

Haul - What I bought with £50?

I was recently given a £50 gift voucher at Banana Republic. You can read all about that experience here! The voucher was only valid for 15 days, so I had to buy something soon. Not that otherwise I wouldn't have gone shopping with it the next day itself, but just saying! Anywho here is what I bought - A jumper and a cute little sling bag.

Happy Diwali + Lisa Eldridge!

My wishes are coming just two days late!!! But better late than never right?!

Here is wishing you all beautiful girls out there a very very Happy Diwali!!! May this year bring you all happiness and all those good things along with loadsa shopping!

What did I do this Diwali? Diwali in London is not that big an affair, you do not have the build-up to the event like in India with crackers bursting from almost a month in advance. But we did what we always do best, meet friends and hog! I have eaten so much sugar the past two days, it is definitely going to show up down there!

I will do an update of what I wore etc. All photos are on my friend's camera and it is going to take quite a bit of badgering to get him to upload and send them across.

On a different note, Lisa Eldridge made a blog post on Bollywood and a video to go with it. How cool is that?! I was so darn excited to see the post that I could hardly wait for the video. The way she pronounces Devdas, Madhuri Dixit etc is so cute, dont you think? I love Lisa and it was a treat to watch her talk about Bollywood! It is also stunning how she transforms the model who has "normal" skin like any of us into a flawless beauty. You sure can achieve a lot with makeup!

OOTD(Outfit Of Two Days) + Gift card I won!

Today's gonna be a good good day! Why am I singing? Cause a new Banana Republic store opened where I work and they gave away a £50 voucher (:O) to the first 100 people to walk into the store with an email they had sent earlier. The store opening was at 8AM and I was there at 7:56AM (My normal wakeup time is 8AM if it is just any other work day lol!). There were already at least a 100 people ahead of me and my friends in the queue, but due to some turn of events, a lot of them disqualified and we were the 62nd to enter the store and out we came with a £50 gift voucher!!! I love Gap and their casual clothes, banana republic is a slightly more polished/expensive sister of Gap. I am quite excited about this, as you can see obviously :P I wouldn't have been gutted if I hadn't made it in the first 100, I went there merely for the experience and to actually get the voucher is an added bonus!

On to the outfits. These are two outfits I wore to work this week. The casual one is what I am wearing now as I type. Don’t know what I was thinking wearing green pants and converse to a bank! Oh well!
