La Roche Posay Haul - Lip, face and more face!

For those of you who aren't aware, La Roche Posay is a very famous french pharmacy brand dedicated to skincare. For example LRP is to the French what Biotique is to us Indians! Except LRP has a worldwide fan base. It is safe to say that every skincare junkie out there will have atleast one LRP holygrail product, be it their sun protection or their acne treatments.

I have not tried any of their stuff myself, but have a big lust list with a fair few of their products in there. They are not so readily available in the UK in that you can get them online etc, but they do not exactly have an aisle presence everywhere. Recently when I was on the lookout for a good lip repair balm I thought I ll give their's a try (my HG lip balm got over but is horrendously priced online, almost £15 for which I paid Rs 600 in India). And naturally I placed more than what I actually need in the shopping basket!

All these items cost between £5 and £6 each (Rs 500 - 600) at very prompt service with a great selection of French pharmacy brands.

8 fun facts about me - Versatile Blogger Award!

Sushylovesblush has been nominated for the “Versatile Blogger Award” by Swati from Curios and Dreams. Thank you so much Swati J The best part about this award though is the fact that your nomination equals the actual award! If only all awards were that easy right!?
The rules of this award
  1. If you are nominated, you are awarded the Versatile Blogger Award!
  2. Do thank the person who gave you this award.
  3. Include the link of her blog.
  4. Nominate other bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award.
  5. Finally, tell the person who nominated you & do tell 7 things about yourself.
Guess I have already done the thanking bit! But it doesn’t hurt to thank again – Thank you Swati ;) I truly think Curios and Dreams deserves this award, if not for the versatile content atleast for the yummy lip swatches and the quality of the pictures!
I will do the 7 facts before nominating/awarding blogs I love reading.

Forest Essentials Japapatti Hair Oil - Review & Photos

I was first introduced to this by Aarthi from A-Shopaholic, when we met recently. She has a ton of superb reviews on FE products which got me intrigued to try some hair oils from the brand. The store reflects the brand ethos which is of being a high-end ayurvedic health+beauty sorta environment. I was looking forward to getting the Bhringhraj hair oil which Aarthi attributes to helping control her hair fall. But the guy suggested I try this instead. I love the packaging of the product, the sleek squared bottle, the golden cap and the cardboard effect outer box! Now on to the product itself cause that’s what we really care about right?!

A little hair info for you – my hair is relatively problem-free. I do not use heat on my hair, I let it air dry every time(Hairdryer maybe 5 times a year and straightener once or twice). I have very fine, silky hair that is also extremely thin. Apart from it being thin thanks to my genes, I have no other issues with it. It generally is silky and has a nice shine to it, thanks to all the coconut oil I rub into it on an alternate day basis. I wash my hair almost every single day and to counteract the damage caused by over-washing, on alternate nights I apply tons of coconut oil and let it soak overnight. When I first started doing this during college days I was not aware of the benefits of coconut oil beyond the fact that it gave me silky shiny hair the morning after. But recently I came to know more on reading a book “It is ok to have lead in your lipstick” which helps bust some cosmetic industry myths and decodes some jargon thereby aiming to make you a smarter shopper. The book sighted in several places that hair that has already grown out is a dead part of the body. There is nothing that can nourish it from the inside. All the conditioners we use can only make it ‘feel’ softer by externally coating it with silicones. That is no high-street product except Coconut oil.

My Scotland face – Before and After FOTD

Before and After makeup shots during my recent vacation(photos taken sneakily when husband was in the shower and I literally had 2 minutes to get ready!) using products shown here. You will not see any dramatic difference between the two pictures which is what I go for. I am always striving for the polished glowing face that does not look like I have 10 inches of foundation caked up. The dark circles are apparent even in the after pics, they just don’t get concealed completely!

Excuse the picture quality, they were all shot on my phone (as you can see in the pics) and a very shaky hand!

Let me know what you guys think? Any obvious areas of concern?!

Makeup I packed for a trip to Scotland

I recently went for a 4-day vacation to Scotland and here is what I packed makeup wise. All stuffed into the Clinique bag I got as a Gift-With-Purchase

My current favourite liquid foundation. I love the finish this gives my skin. I used every day during the vacation.

I love this stuff. Seriously want to use it every single day!

Kangana Ranaut Interview

I thought this video worth posting on here. I really like Kangana's dressing style, in the sense anytime there is an article on her I get curious to see what she is wearing. She seems so fashion forward in the Bollywood scene and seems to be one of those ladies who is very daring and confident in her own skin.

Her sincerity and honesty have come across so well in this video. I really like what she is wearing in this video, very grecian! And I like how openly she has discussed about her finances, which does not happen very often amongst film actors. What do you guys think?

My MAC lipgloss collection

Apologies to the ones who expected a massive gloss collection. The two shown below form my entire lipgloss collection, let alone MAC ones! I am not a gloss person neither am I a lipstick lover. I love the MAC lustre finishes, moisturising and glossy with a sheer wash of colour without being super sticky or super pigmented.

My Current Skincare Routine - Day & Night

These are the cleansers I am currently in love with. Both absolute gems, but if I had to choose one then it has to be the EH cleansing balm. Pure luxury!

For the toning step I use the Pixi Glow tonic. It is an exfoliating toner, which helps to slough off the surface dead cells to reveal newer softer skin. As you can see it is a a very minimal packaging, each one of these is hand packed. I am looking to ad a hydrating toner to my routine like the La Roche Posay Serozinc, but that is only available in France or Ebay. So waiting for someone at work to travel to Paris!

My skincare lust list!

Yes I keep a skincare wishlist written in a beautiful flower patterned lilly Pulitzer notepad (Read typed into an email and saved in the drafts folder)! And recently it has been growing at a light-years’ pace. I am a skincare junkie. At any time you will find more skincare items in my bathroom cabinet than makeup in my vanity draw. I would love love love to be able to get my hands on the below products to see if they wow me like they have several other bloggers out there. If only they were not so bank-breaking!

I am not one to shy away from expensive products, but we cannot always afford to spend thousands on any and every product that catches our fancy, can we? That is where this list comes into action. To avoid becoming an impulsive shopper I let products sit on the list and if I still feel the same way about them after a while I buy them. And before I buy I make sure I do my research(Read google search them a million times) so I do not get ripped. I am getting ramble-y there, so let’s move straight ahead to THE LIST!

Blush Love - MAC Sweet As Coacoa Blush & NOTD - Review & Photos

MAC Sweet As Cocoa
Sweet as cocoa is a recent addition to my MAC blush pile. I picked up the refill version just to make a palette out of my mac blushers. I will talk about that a little later, now on to the blusher itself.

A chocolate brown shade loaded with copper/bronze shimmer with distinct red undertones is how I would describe Sweet-As-Cocoa. It is a sheertone blush which means it has a discernible sheen to it and gives a sheer wash of colour that can be intensified with a few more swipes of the blusher. The first one or two swipes gives the most gorgeous coppery highlight to the cheek bones catching light from any direction your head turns towards! More swipes and the redness in the blush starts peeking through. That sounds scary but don’t be, with a light hand you can achieve the most beautiful sheeny blush/bronzer effect to the cheek.

Product empties - Review & Photos

This post features empties over the past month or so. Click on the names for detailed reviews.

1) Venusia Max moisturising cream - Moisturiser offer from Dr Reddy's lab meant for extremely dry skin anywhere in the body. I had dry almost hardened skin on the sides of my feet caused due to sitting cross legged on the floor during pregnancy(sounds weird but my gyanecologist had asked me not to sit up with legs hanging down!). This cream almost cleared those patches within a few weeks.

Highly effective but will not be re purchasing due to parabens.

2) Soap & glory flake away - I have already taken the lable out and it now houses cotton pads!

Definitely repurchasing (I can still smell the scrub in the box!)

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - Review & Photos

So recently when I completely overhauled my skincare routine I chose to have two different cleansers, one for morning and one for before bed cleansing. The morning cleanser needed to be something simple that I did not have to pay much attention to, that was not too expensive, a fall-back cleanser if you will. The Liz Earle cleanse and Polish ticked all the boxes. A product with lotsa great natural ingredients, that is meant to cleanse and polish the skin and it cost me £13 for 100ml. And this product is literally the most raved about in the internet world, so naturally I was curious to try it out myself. I am here to record my thoughts on it, having used it for a fair amount of time now.

My current perfume obsession & Fall - Lancome La Vie Est Belle - Photos & Review

Now I have to admit two things, one I am no big perfume person/collector and two I have no idea about notes, sillage etc.

My perfume preference goes like this - I like sweet scents, I hate anything that smells of roses. I had a perfume in university gifted by my uncle. It was called something like Papoa, a clear bottle, orange liquid, round orange cap. I absolutely loved it and wore the heck out of it. It became my signature scent in university and recently my friend told me the minute she smells it somewhere my hostel room memories come rushing back to her. I have been hunting for it forever now, so I can smell and see if I have associated good memories with it, but even the trusted google is unable to return anything! If you have any  idea about the perfume I am talking about, please let me know in the comments below!

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation - Review, Photos & FOTD

My hunt for the perfect liquid foundation took me everywhere from Clinique to Chanel! I think it has now ended with Benefit. Most times my complaint was my face looking grey and dull due to too much pink in the foundation. I did not want to go with MAC, nothing against the brand but I just wanted to branch out a bit more. I have a complete rant post dedicated to that here. This is a review of the Benefit Oxygen Wow Hello Flawless Foundation.

Few facts about it
1)      Comes in 9 shades. I am in the shade Toasted Beige (NC42 in MAC)
2)      Light-to-medium coverage
3)      Oil Free
4)      SPF 25 PA+++
5)      Brightening foundation
6)      Moisturising formula
7) Very very convenient pump packaging

5 Outfits (Work edition) - OOTDs & NOTW

These are 5 work outfits that I wore last week! Few disclaimers before we jump to the pictures.

Disclaimer 1 - I have taken all of the pics in my office loo, so excuse the lighting and anything else you can see in the background.

Disclaimer 2 - I am wearing the same pair of shoes from Clarks in every single one of them, I really do not experiment with shoes and do not ever wear heels. I have made it a point to not be so boring with footwear starting next year! (I already know it is not going to happen coz if I really want to do it I would do it now rather than next year). Anywho moving on to the outfits.

Outfit 1
Dress – Max (Love this inexpensive yet lovely-looking dress I got from Max. I got a few compliments on it that day)
Cardigan – Red cashmere cardigan (I have never owned a 100% cashmere cardigan before as they are so damn expensive, but now I know they really make a difference. This one keeps me so amazingly warm. I wore it for the first time on a hot summer day like I would any other cardigan and it literally gave me a hot flush)
Tights - M&S

Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick - Shy Blush - Review, Photos & FOTD

After all those serious skincare posts, how happy am I to be writing something makeup related! This is my current cheek obsession – Clinique blushwear cream stick in shade Shy blush.

It looks like an oversized lipstick, so much so that when my husband saw me using this on a rushed work morning he found it extremely funny that I was rubbing lipstick on my face! Yeah let’s just say that his knowledge in makeup is very limited! I love everything about this blush, from the luxe packaging, the ease of wearing it to the colour. The packaging feels heavy and expensive, metallic twist up mechanism that reveals the gorgeous cream beauty. In store I had my eyes set on a bright pink shade called Pink blush and this one. Obviously the boring person in me went for the natural looking brown based shade.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold - Review/Rant/Rave & Photos

This is one of those products which, until I came to know about I had not heard about it or the brand anywhere at all. But once I had read about in a few different places, I kept seeing it on almost every skincare/beauty blog/youtube video I read/watched. I was so damn eager and impatient to try it out. It arrived one day after I had placed the order and I tried it on my face that very night.

What is it? Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a chemical exfoliant containing glycolic acid that you sweep on to your face with a cotton wool and leave overnight. The glycolic acid in liquid gold works to improve the skin’s texture in many ways, one by loosening the dead cells and revealing newer radiant looking skin and two is by bringing down the ph of the skin thereby making skin work hard to raise it back up thereby leaving skin tighter and looking plumped up. It also stimulates the skin to make hyaluronic acid and collagen both of which reduce as we age and both are required for that baby-bottom soft skin we are all after. I hate abrasive scrubs for the face and this has been an absolute god-send when my skin was in dire need of exfoliation.

Brush Cleaning - MAC, Sigma, RT - Photos & Few observations

Last night was brush cleansing night. I normally do this over the weekend, but yesterday I was feeling especially productive and had some free time in hand. There will only be face brushes because I do not do eye makeup! I have maybe two eyeshadows in my stash, one is MAC Bronze and the other a Shu uemura or something which looks exactly the same as MAC Cranberry!

The brushes shown are

Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Face Mask - Review & Photos

Until recently I equated face mask to multani mitti! It was not a big part of my skincare routine, but off late I seem to be embracing them a lot more. I have a Biotique mud mask (Reviewed here) to use when my skin needs a deep clean which is once in two weeks. While researching for a good weekly mask I kept bumping into reviews on the Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask. One evening after work when I was feeling rather spendy I popped into a nearby SpaceNK(UK chain selling high-end skincare) and this baby happily went home with me. I have been using it for more than a month now, religiously every Sunday and I now am fully equipped to rave write about it.
